1. How to propagate Fiddle Leaf Fig: A Soil Method:

Follow the steps below for this method which is done by rooting the branch cuttings in the soil.

  1. At first take the branch cuttings and clear the leaves present at the lower part of the branch taken. Make sure the cuttings have at least 3-4 nodes in them.
  2. Now dip the cutting in the rooting hormone, coating it fully.
  3. Make a pot ready for your cutting to be planted with a well-draining potting mix. Also, water the soil thoroughly
  4. The fourth step is planting the cutting by making a hole in the soil with your finger in the center of the pot.
  5. Place a clear plastic bag over the pot with the cutting and also allow the plant to be exposed to fresh air every few days for 10-15 days.
  6. Keep the cutting moist by watering it evenly and you can notice the roots in them within a few weeks of propagation,

2.  How to propagate Fiddle Leaf Fig:  A Water method:

Another method of propagation in which the cuttings are dipped in water and the whole process has been explained in different steps below.

  1. At first take the branch cuttings and clear the leaves present at the lower part of the branch taken. Make sure the cuttings have at least 3-4 nodes in them.
  2. Take a glass full of water and place the stem with nodes submerged in the water with leaves above the surface. Also, change the water once a week to maintain the oxygen level.
  3. Place the glass container with the cuttings in the space with indirect but bright light and you will be able to notice roots developing on them within a few weeks.
  4. Once the roots are almost 2 inches you can plant the cuttings in the soil and water it well with proper care and attention. Water the pot evenly to keep the soil moist for a few weeks for the plant to adapt to the new soil environment.

3.  How to propagate Fiddle Leaf Fig: An Air method:

Follow the following steps to propagate your fiddle leaf fig using the air layering method.

  1. You need to identify the suitable branch in your mature fiddle leaf to propagate, then choose a node for the air layering method. Also, make sure to choose a stem with  3-4 nodes in it along with a couple of leaves.
  2. The next step is to prepare sphagnum moss by soaking it in water for 10-15 mins and making it moist by squeezing all the water out of it.
  3. Apply the prepared moist sphagnum moss around the node and cover it with a clear plastic wrap.
  4. Keep checking the moisture of the moss once or twice a week. You can also use a spray bottle to spray the moss if it's drying out.
  5. Once the roots start growing in the branch, it is ready to be transferred to the soil. You can remove the rooted branch from its mother plant with the help of shears or a knife.
  6. Finally prepare a potting mix suitable for the plant and plant the cutting in the well-draining pot. Keep the soil moist for the first 1-2 weeks for the plant to adapt to the new environment.
