How to get rid of spider mites on Indoor Plants?

Spider mites can ruin your indoor as well as outdoor garden. They are one of the most common pests in the garden with very small in size. Their size makes them difficult to spot on the houseplants. Adult mites are reddish brown in color with the shape of oval. Since they destroy your houseplants, let's have a look at how to control and get rid of them.

1. Isolating the Infected Plant:

Once the plants show the infestation isolate the plant from other houseplants as soon as possible. It prevents the infestation from spreading within the garden.

2. Pruning :

Once the spider mites are located in the plant leaves, stems or other parts, start off by pruning them. Remove the webbing as well and don't hesitate to discard the whole plant if needed to prevent the spreading.

3. Watering :

Watering the indoor plant is so important and Since the spider mites thrive in dry places keep the plants watered properly. Misting the plants and surroundings can also reduce the infestation of pests. 

4. Plant Washing:

Dust on leaves or fruits also makes the infestation easier on the plants. It's necessary to wash the plant thoroughly with a strong stream of water to reduce the pest numbers.

5. Neem oil or Insecticidal Soap:

Spraying the entire plant with neem oil every 3-5 days helps to destroy the reproductive cycle. Also, the use of insecticidal soap can be used to treat the huge amount of infestation in the plants. They are considered highly effective in controlling spider mites. 

6. Using Insecticides:

When the infestation is severe the use of insecticides is considered ideal to remove the mites. They kill almost every pest at the egg, larvae, or adult stage. Specific insecticides for spider mites should be used according to instructions.

7. Regular Maintenance and Monitoring:

Always look after the plant from time to time for any signs of spider mites to prevent the spreading in the whole garden. Proper care including a watering schedule, the proper amount of light, or temperature should always be ensured. 

So, it becomes easy to maintain your indoor garden if you follow the above-mentioned steps to get rid of spider mites. It is always better to be careful regarding the houseplants as they can get easily infested.
